VCCFCU’s response to Covid-19

April 20, 2020

Dear Members,

Your Safety and Health Are Important To Us

Like you, we’re monitoring the latest news about coronavirus because the safety and health of our members and employees is our priority. Since the beginning of March, the Van Cortlandt Cooperative Federal Credit Union (VCCFCU) has been taking action to address concerns raised by COVID-19. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has provided additional measures for essential and life-sustaining businesses that remain open. VCCFCU has previously modified its operations and taken significant action to protect its employees and members to ensure their safety. With the new order, the following additional measures will take place effective Monday, April 20th:

  1. Mask Requirement for Employees and Members
  • Employees that are on company premises working must wear a mask that meets guidance from the state Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • Members are required to wear a mask that meets the guidance from the state Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention before being allowed entrance into the credit union lobby. Please ensure you have appropriate identification as we may request to see this prior to being let into our offices as a security measure. If a member enters our branch without a mask, they will not be serviced and will be asked to leave unless they return with a mask or face covering. This is not only to protect our staff but also to protect members banking with us. There are no exceptions!
  1. Social Distancing Measures in Lobbies
  • At this time our back office doors remained locked and we primarily service clients via the teller windows to ensure we are adhering to social distancing and providing limited exposure to anyone including the at-risk and elderly population. In the coming weeks, you will notice lobby changes as we limit branch capacity (no more than 4 members in the lobby at one time). Our in office staff have been reduced and alternate between working from home and the office in order to limit exposure and insure that there will always be a team to keep the credit union branch open.
  1. Visitor Policy
  • We stand ready to serve our clients and ensure a safe and clean environment. We are not allowing non-essential visitors into locations that do not have essential banking business to attend to.

We recommend that you fully utilize all of VCCFCU’s services that enable you to bank remotely, without needing to visit a our branch. This will help minimize human contact and reduce the chances of passing the virus.

VCCFCU will continue to take all action necessary to provide information and protect our employees and members. This is an evolving situation, and we are watching as closely as you are with the same goal, to protect our family and friends.

Sincerely,

Mirela Alexe

CEO

Dear Members,

As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to remind you of the ways that Van Cortlandt Cooperative Federal Credit Union (VCCFCU) is helping to keep you, our members, our employees, and our community safe. The April 2nd Annual Meeting has been canceled until further notice.

We know times are difficult and uncertain for everyone. Rest assured that we will always be ready and able to assist with all of your financial needs. By supporting each other as a community, we know we’ll come out stronger on the other side.

Here’s what we’re doing…

Lending Support

We understand that some of our members may experience a financial hardship related to the coronavirus crisis and we want to help. At this time, if you can’t afford to make a monthly loan payment we will not charge you a late fee and it will not be reported to the credit bureaus. Please contact us at 718-549-5858 to discuss your options.

Keeping Your Money Safe

We understand these are trying times, but we want to reassure you that your money is always safe with VCCFCU. Funds in your VCCFCU account are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration.

Practicing Social Distancing

As an essential business, our branch remains open. Currently our staff are working remote alternating schedules in order to abide by social distancing and ensure uninterrupted branch services.

We encourage you to explore the array of digital options we offer (see below), but if you find it necessary to visit our branch, we ask that no more than 4 people enter our branch at one time and that all members maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet from others. In addition, we ask that you call us in advance to make an appointment if you need to meet with a Member Services Representative. We appreciate your continued cooperation and thank you for helping us to do what we can to keep ourselves and our families stay safe. As of today, our branch hours remain the same.

Here’s what you can do….

During this time when everyone is being asked to stay home and stay safe, you don‘t have to visit our branch to access your money.
