The Little Ivy Club
The long awaited birth of your child has finally arrived, along with a string of worries; sleeping, feeding, comfort, playing, child development, sickness, which are just a few to mention. On top of all that, new parents worry about future finances and education for their newborn. Do we look into a state-sponsored college savings plan, open an education IRA or setting up a custodial account for minors? Making the right decision can be overwhelming and sometimes parents put off saving until they decide what plan will work for them.

The Van Cortlandt Cooperative FCU has created The Little Ivy Club, a starter savings account for newborns designed to form a “lifetime bond” with members from an early age.

At the age of 5 years, our Little Ivies will graduate into the Johnny Appleseed savings program. A program designed to teach grade school children the importance of saving money and helping the environment.

Parents opening accounts for their newborn children with a deposit of $100 or more receive a casting kit for the child’s hand or footprint.
