The Johnny Appleseed Club is the Van Cortlandt Cooperative Federal Credit Union's youth savings club for children between 5 and 12 years of age. The program is designed to teach children about saving money, and it combines ecology and environmental information to make learning fun.
Upon enrolling, your child receives a colorful Johnny Appleseed Club calendar for the current year, which features ecology pictures drawn by children throughout the USA. The calendar includes a dime-saver apple bank and an official Appleseed Membership Card.
In addition to quarterly dividends, a special saving incentive is offered every quarter to encourage children to save. A postcard is mailed to each club member four times a year announcing the incentive gift and encouraging them to save.
By coming to the credit union in person and adding $5.00 to their Appleseed Account, your child will receive a free gift. The savings incentive gifts are fun, useful, and can be enjoyed by any child.
Club members also receive a card on their birthday from Johnny. When they bring their birthday card into the Credit Union they receive a special birthday gift.
We recommend that you bring your child into the Credit Union to open an account. They will benefit from the educational process. It takes about 15 minutes with a staff member. Your child must have his or her own Social Security number and a deposit of $5.00. Your child will receive a savings incentive gift for the initial Appleseed deposit.
